  • Learn about resources available to people with visual impairments

The Empowered Fe Fes

A group for girls to talk about stuff that’s important to us.

For girls with disabilities ages 13-24.

Dates: Two Saturdays a month.

Times: 11:00- 1:30pm

Advance Youth Leadership Power (AYLP)

AYLP is a grassroots advocacy group run by and for young people with disabilities.  AYLP works to combat disability discrimination.

Date: Every Tuesday

Time: 4 to 6 pm

Chicago ADAPT

Chicago ADAPT is a grassroots advocacy group that works to free people living in institutions to live in the community instead.  “Our homes, not nursing homes!”

Date: First Wednesday of every month

Time: 5:30 to 7:30 pm

Swiggy's Juice Bars

Sponsored by the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD), Swiggy's Juice Bars are recreational events offering music, dancing, refreshments and fun! For 16 years, Swiggy's Juice Bars have provided thousands of people with disabilities an opportunity to socialize.

Each Swiggy's Juice Bar is free and open to the public, but groups require advance reservations.

National ADAPT Action 25th Anniversary in Washington, DC

This is a once-in-a-lifetime advocacy event.  Hundreds of folks with disabilities will celebrate 25 years of direct action for disability rights.

Disability Pride Open Mic

People in the community can perform works about Disability Pride.  Contact the organizers if you would like to perform.  Many young people have performed in the past.  No age limits.
